COOP container boxcar

RhB Container Car, COOP, 45890

The Handelskette co-operative maintains supermarkets and department stores throughout Switzerland. For transporting food items, the co-operative uses its own refrigerated “cooltainers,” which it also uses for various advertising campaigns. The Rhätische Bahn transports these containers in the canton of Graubünden, and this LGB model is an authentic model of a co-op cooltainer on an RhB wagon. It's the start of a series of co-op container cars.

Persil® boxcar

Persil® Boxcar, 46356

Even on early railroads, advertising cars were a common sight. Usually these were cars owned by private shippers, and this LGB model depicts a private car with Persil® advertising, which operated on the DR in the 1920s. This classic detergent ad, which promises super white laundry, should be a part of every LGB collection. Opening doors.

Sliding Wall Car

46570 RhB Sliding Wall Car, Haik-v 5128

Modern sliding wall cars are an important part of the Rhätische Bahn today. Their large opening sidewalls enable quick loading and unloading, and compared to two-axle freight cars, their increased capacity makes them more efficient. Plus, the large and smooth sidewalls are ideal for advertising art. “Möbel Pfister,” a furniture company, advertises on this car. The LGB model is a prototypical replica of this advertising car, and like the original, the model’s doors open.

RhB Hopper Car

46690 RhB Hopper Car Fad 8721

These four-axle hopper cars are part of the special car fleet of the Rhätische Bahn. Used to haul gravel, these yellow cars are destined primarily for the RhB’s maintenance trains. A few details differ from the other hopper cars. For example, the operator can mechanically adjust the amount of gravel dispensed as the train rolls along slowly. The new LGB model of the RhB hopper car is a prototypical model of this vehicle, which is so important for maintaining the tracks. The LGB model features four opening unloading doors.

LGB of America announced that it will proceed with plans to produce its own G-scale trains and accessories. LGBoA also announced that its existing inventories of LGB products are generally very good and that it is working with many long-time LGB suppliers on its production efforts.

“Our constant goal is to provide consumers with the quality LGB products they want,” said Tony Castellano, President of LGB of America. “We purchased a tremendous amount of LGB before production ended at Lehmann. We have already announced our new ‘USRA 0-6-0’ loco, and we plan to have fresh inventory before the start of the holiday selling season.”
