LGB 22801 DR Steam Loco

LGB 22801 DR Steam Loco
This powerful locomotive was built by the Krupp locomotive works in 1939 as a prototype for a standardized narrow-gauge locomotive. Using superheated steam, it could pull trains up to 80 metric tons (88 U.S. tons) up a 3% grade. Unfortunately, no further locomotives were built to this design, but the prototype of the loco still operates on the Selketalbahn line of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB). This LGB model captures the loco in its Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) livery and lettering. The smoke box door opens to reveal the fire tubes. Six directional lanterns are powered through voltage stabilization electronics.

It has LGB quality sound, including all the sounds of a real steam loco, like coal shoveling, braking and exhaust sounds. Plus, it has tremendous pulling power with two motors, one in the engine and one in the tender. Working doors open the way into the detailed cab.

LGB of America announced that it will proceed with plans to produce its own G-scale trains and accessories. LGBoA also announced that its existing inventories of LGB products are generally very good and that it is working with many long-time LGB suppliers on its production efforts.

“Our constant goal is to provide consumers with the quality LGB products they want,” said Tony Castellano, President of LGB of America. “We purchased a tremendous amount of LGB before production ended at Lehmann. We have already announced our new ‘USRA 0-6-0’ loco, and we plan to have fresh inventory before the start of the holiday selling season.”
